In Japan and Korea, about 15% or so of the population has been drinking ionized water for over 30 years…some even longer. Many hospitals in both Japan and Korea use water ionizers for both its alkalizing/anti-oxidizing properties for drinking and for its acid properties in healing skin sores.

Innumerable tests have been done on mice, rats, chickens, etc., and in almost every instance there were good results noted and no negative results have ever been able to be replicated. There have been no substantiated incidents of negative long-term effects of people drinking ionized water.

I have personally known people who are cancer-free today primarily because of ionized water. My family and extended family are so much healthier because of ionized water! Over the years I have had hundreds of customers who either have written to me or spoken with me on the phone and told me their stories of how water ionizers have help them and their families so much.

Water ionizers have a bona fide and rightful, life-long place in any family’s healthy home.

As a long-time educator [I was a teacher/principal for over 24 years], I am very interested in educating people [and giving people the straight scoop] about water ionizers. I will not allow myself to sell a product that could do harm or isn’t tested thoroughly enough for safety. I also personally, have been drinking ionized water for over 16 years, along with my family and extended family. I can safely say that I am healthier today, at age 59, than when I started drinking it at age 43! The reason I am selling water ionizers today is because a water ionizer is the one, single, best, health product I have ever purchased. So after retiring from teaching I decided to pursue this passion.

Are there negative reports about ionized water?

There are going to be people who will, no matter what it is that you are advocating, will advocate against it. In every case, when I’ve come across a report I have given it my full attention. One chemist was warning people that ionized water could upset the balance in your colon. It seemed like a silly warning, especially in light of all the colonoscopy work that Dr. Shinya has done to show the great things ionized water does for all of his thousands of patients’ colons [Dr. Shinya is the inventor of the colonoscopy]. But even though the claim seemed silly, I still checked it out on myself.

Just a few months ago my husband and I had comprehensive stool analyses [which showed a perfect supply of good bacteria, zero bad bacteria, zero parasites, and good results in every other way.]

Not only do we feel healthier than ever, but the blood, stool and urine tests my husband and I have done [after drinking ionized water for over 16 years] are showing this as well!

Another health-reporter was worrying people about long-term use [he said short-term use for detoxing was good but not long term...however didn’t specify his reasons]. He hinted at the stomach/colon, and possibly “leaky-gut”, but was elusive [I think he just wanted to sell his newly imported water filters]. So, just last month I had a urinalysis [along with test for leaky-gut] and the comprehensive report showed that all levels for everything tested were perfect. In addition my heart rate and blood pressure were so good the nurse made a comment about how envious she was.

It’s interesting that none of the “authorities” that I’ve run across who have advocated against water ionization have ever actually tried it.

Their reports are obviously flawed in such a way as to show they haven’t much knowledge about water ionizers either. Many health authorities or scientists who HAVE fully checked out water ionizers have concurred with what I know from experience, that the health benefits possible are quite bona fide and even amazing. Here’s a question/answer report of an interview with Ray Kurzweil [inventor/scientist] who did in fact check out water ionizers top to bottom and highly advocates them. http://alkalinewaterplus.info/blog/uploaded/Ray_Kurzweil_Q_A.pdf

By the way, the chemist, mentioned above, is an interesting character. He seems to hate everything natural. But he definitely has an agenda, and a great article exposing his agenda can be found here: http://www.canlyme.com/quackwatch.html .

How do vitamins fit in with water ionizers?

Another benefit: Since I’ve been drinking ionized water, my intake of vitamins and minerals have lowered. I take a normal amount of vitamins today, but took a greater than normal amount 20 years ago…because I wasn’t as healthy then as I am today. Last year my husband and I had our blood fully analyzed and, just as we knew it would, every level of dozens of things the test covered was perfect.

Medical Uses for Water Ionizers:

There is one particular water ionizer that claims to be the only one suitable for medical uses [such as if a person has cancer or some other condition they are worried about]. This is bogus and absolutely, completely, 100% untrue. The actual fact of the matter is that it is a sales pitch and it is in my opinion bordering on fraud.

Water ionizers, in general, have been approved for manufacturing in 1965 by the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare as medical equipment to produce medical substances.

In Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, water ionizers are considered as medical devices, but also as water treatment devices. In the U.S., water ionizers are not considered medical devices, and it could be risky for a company to market them as such. Enagic gets away with their marketing, because mostly these claims are being made person to person or in closed group settings. However it is a risky thing to do, and could put the company out of business or at least cause some damage in the way of fines. Several years ago, when I started hearing the claims by Enagic dealers, I decided to find out for myself. I was perfectly willing to switch companies if the Enagic was better. I just wanted to know. I cannot tell you how many times I have tested and retested [and retested and retested] their water ionizer against the other two top water ionizers, the Athena and Tyent water ionizers, as well as other water ionizers, and other than an occasional higher pH [for cleaning water…too high to drink] and a higher flow-rate [which in my opinion is not a good thing…because the filtration suffers when the flow-rate is too fast] the Athena is better. The Tyent is probably tied…but the warranty is better with the Tyent and so is the price.

For long-term use, when is it best to consume ionized water?

It is best to consume ionized water away from mealtimes if your meal contains meat. Some also suggest to not drink it while taking medications [vitamins are fine though]. A good rule of thumb is for 20 min. before and 20 min. after meals or taking medications, drink little or no alkaline water. If you like to drink water with meals containing meat, then I suggest you squeeze a slice of lemon into your ionized water and you’ll change the pH of it to acidic or just drink filtered water. The reason for this is that during the initial phases of digestion your stomach needs to maintain a more acidic environment [in particular if your meal contains meat].

How do You Know You’re Getting the Best Quality of Water Ionizer?

One way is to compare the water ionizer’s ORP per Unit of PH: Not all ionizers will give a good ORP at lower pH levels, such as at pH settings of 8 or 8.5. That’s why I’ve done extensive testing of both the pH and ORP of all of the leading water ionizers. I have also tested ionizers in a variety of different locations, so I could get an idea of how source water affects the ORP at the various pH levels.

Why Would People Need the Lower PH Settings of 8 or 8.5?

People whose diets are mostly fruits and vegetables are probably more naturally alkaline and may need to set their ionizers to give them pH levels of about 8 or 8.5. Also, depending on the pH level of your incoming water, some water comes in at already a 8 – 9 pH. In this case, the ionizing of water is still very beneficial, because ORP [oxidation reduction potential, or antioxidant value of the water] delivers over 50% of the health benefits from water ionization.

People whose diets are fairly typical of US, with several trips to a fast food restaurant per week and/or more than 40% of food intake [visually] is from meat and grains will probably be more acidic and need higher pH settings for their ionized water, such as a pH of 9 or 10.

Which are the Best Water Ionizers?

It probably depends a little on your source water [where you live], but I’ll give you a very brief summary of what I’ve found to be the best water ionizers.

Medium-Hardness Water Areas: The best ionizer I’ve found for giving high ORP per unit of pH in medium-hardness water areas is the Athena water Ionizer [and also its under-sink equivalent, the Delphi]. The Tyent is also good, as well as the Enagic, Miracle Max or VS70, in that order, although these perform better at the higher [too high to drink] pH settings and do not get as good ORP per unit of pH in the lower pH settings. The Enagic is not good at getting lower PH levels when the source water is too alkaline to begin with. You can do it, by increasing the flow-rate and reducing the power-setting, but then the ORP is not good.

Soft Water Areas: The ionizer needs to work harder in soft water areas to bring the pH level up. Some water ionizers are more suited to this. The best ionizer I’ve found for giving high pH and ORP in extreme soft water areas [such as BC, Canada, or Washington state] is the Chanson Miracle Max or VS 70 water ionizers. The Athena or Delphi water ionizers are good if you set the pH-Boosting setting up to the highest level, and add a mineral filter to one of the filter ports. In this case you will get fantastic ORP per unit of pH in soft water areas, better than the Miracle Max, however you may not be able to get much higher than an alkaline value of 9.5 or 10 pH or much lower than an acidic potential of 4 or 5 pH [for cleaning purposes]. The Tyent and Enagic water ionizers are great too, probably equal to the Athena for drinking pH-levels, if you add a Remineralizer. In all cases, if you have extremely soft water [either because you have reverse osmosis or if you live in an extreme soft-water area, I recommend using a Remineralizer for the best results. With the addition of a Remineralizer or two, you can boost your incoming hardness to any desired amount.

Very Hard Water Areas: In very hard water areas, such as Arizona or Vegas, or in the case of very hard well-water, it is difficult to use any water ionizer to its full potential unless you do something to fix your source water first. For instance, you may be able to get decent drinking water, but may not be able to get any acid water lower than a pH of 5 or 6. The best results would come from reducing your source water to medium-hardness levels before ionizing it. I have had very good reports from people who have used the Reverse-Osmosis-Remineralizer-System to treat their water prior to ionization. The only down-side to this is the amount of water you are likely to be able to use at any given moment is about 1 ½ gallons. After that, you will need to wait about a half hour before you can pour more. The second-best fix for water that is extremely hard is the Spartan Ionizer Shield. I have several very good reports from happy customers about this product. The Spartan Ionizer Shield pre-filtration system doesn’t reduce your water flow or quantity, and it cuts the hardness in about half. If you use a whole-house softener [which uses sodium or potassium] the Spartan Ionizer Shield wouldn’t be the right product, though. The only effective filtration for sodium or potasium is reverse osmosis.

I have tested the Athena water ionizer before, adding drops of apple cider vinegar to it, to simulate the ionized water passing through the stomach. But, I was curious as to any differences I might see in the results of this experiment with the Tyent water ionizer and the Enagic SD501 water ionizer. The reason I chose these two other water ionizers was they typically will get pH/ORP results that are similar to the Athena water ionizer.

The way I conducted this experiment, was to measure the pH and ORP at level 3 (for the Enagic it is called “Kangen water 9.5”) of each of these water ionizers. Then I added drops of vinegar to the ionized water.

On the first chart below you can see I started out with one drop of vinegar added. After that I added two more drops (see second chart).

Analysis and Conclusions

Enagic Water Ionizer: The Enagic water ionizer was tricky to work with because it wanted to produce stronger levels of pH than I felt was good for a person to consume. However, whenever I produced lower, more acceptable drinking levels of pH with the Enagic water ionizer, it was also accompanied by what I felt was too low of a strength of water ionization (ie., the ORP was too weak). When using those weak settings, the results of adding drops of vinegar were very poor. The only time I could get decent results with the Enagic water ionizer was when I used a slower flow rate. The problem with this was the pH came out so high that in my opinion the ionized water was too high for drinking.

Tyent Water Ionizer: The Tyent water ionizer had excellent results when I added one drop of apple cider vinegar. However, by the time it had been sitting there for a few minutes, the ORP was showing signs of instability. When I added two more drops of vinegar, it went to a very low ORP.

Athena Water Ionizer: The Athena water ionizer had excellent results. It retained its excellent ORP even after adding the two extra drops of vinegar.

It’s difficult to draw conclusions from one test, but I have to say that I am once again very pleased with the result of the Athena water ionizer. I will definitely be doing more testing in the future though as I really was expecting the Enagic and the Tyent water ionizers to do better in this water ionizer comparison test.

After over 16 years of drinking alkaline ionized water, I can say with conviction that the very best thing I could give to myself or a loved one is a WATER IONIZER! Give yourself and your family the gift of health this year!

As some of you might have noticed we have recently updated our water ionizer comparison chart. The new and improved Alkaline Water Plus Water Ionizer Comparison Chart includes many common questions about the various water ionizers that are regularly asked by water ionizer customers. This chart is made for YOU, to enable you to make a water ionizer choice that you are happy with. After all we are very motivated to ensure our customers are very happy. For one, we’re trying to help you, but because we pay your restocking fee, if you’re not happy with your water ionizer purchase it’s in our financial best interest as well to make sure you are satisfied with your water ionizer once you get it.

In this video I give a thorough and clear overview of the comparison chart. I clarify most if not all questions you might have concerning the water ionizer comparisons being made in each section of the chart. I also give insight into the key points that water ionizer customers would or should be looking for in any water ionizer they’re going to buy.

Before startiing the video I suggest you click this link to pop up a new window with the new and improved Alkaline Water Plus Water Ionizer Comparison Chart on it. http://www.alkalinewaterplus.com/water-ionizer-comparisons.
Keep in mind that I don’t sell the Enagic water ionizer at Alkaline Water Plus. I do sell all other water ionizers featured on this chart. I only include the Enagic water ionizer for comparison purposes.

Some Key Things to Pay Attention to When Thinking About Getting a Water Ionizer are:

How Thoroughly is the Water Ionizer Ionizing the Water at Drinking Levels? [ORP at the Lower Levels]

ORP Per Unit of pH: ORP [antioxidant levels] in water is an important water ionizer comparison feature. At an 11 pH, though, the ORP is irrelevant, because it is too high of a pH to drink. Regardless of this fact, most water ionizer comparison tests are done at the highest settings for each water ionizer. Alkaline Water Plus believes that the ORP should be tested and compared at each level of pH, especially the lower levels. That way the various drinking levels of ionized water are checked for their ORP levels. Some water ionizers are great at getting a good ORP at their highest settings [such as the Enagic] and not at the lower [drinking level] pH settings.

Do the Water Ionizer’s Plates and Electrolysis Chamber Design DO the JOB?

Plate Design Quality: Many water ionizer companies brag about the size of their plates and/or number of electrodes in their water ionizer brand, when the real test of quality in a water ionizer is the ORP per unit of pH [as described above], and that has more to do with the efficient use of electricity than the plate size or quantity. It’s not particularly good to put too much electricity through your plates, however whenever you increase the size or mass that the electricity must go through, it requires more power to do it.

How Well Will the Water Ionizer Perform into the Future?

Plate Cleaning Quality: Very clean platinum coated plates are very important to any water ionizer design. What happens in a water ionizer is the hard minerals in the water want to stick to the plates in the alkaline side of the water cell. Continuous cleaning is the best design for a water ionizer, because it keeps any hard minerals off the electrodes. Platinum is necessary for efficient electrolysis. It catalyzes it [speeds it up]. If the plates are continuously cleaned, the platinum can then touch the water and do its job of catalyzing [speeding up and making more thorough] electrolysis.Mesh plate designs on a water ionizer is a newer, more efficient design, but beware of any water ionizer which does not have continuous cleaning [in which case the mesh would be a bad idea, because there would be more grooves for hard minerals to clog up.]

How Well will the Water Ionizer Clean the Water?

Overall Filtration Quality: With all of the junk in our US water today it is an important feature that every water ionizer offers pretty good to great filtration. Chlorine, for instance, is filtered out by every water ionizer I sell. Some water ionizers, however, offer better filtration than the others. A good example is the Jupiter Biostone Plus filter, which has over 9 layers of filtration with sophisticated [and expensive I might add] filter media which gets out tricky things, such as chloramine [a compound of chlorine plus amonia...very hard to filter out], fluoride [which reports are coming in droves of the health risks of consuming fluoride] and pharmaceuticals [

As you can see this chart is very comprehensive and thorough. Keep in mind that we, at Alkaline Water Plus, are REALLY testing each water ionizer. We are not a fake water ionizer review site. Each point on the new water ionizer comparison chart is something important for a water ionizer customer to know, especially the above four points, which I think are the qualities most important to look for in a water ionizer.

After over 16 years of drinking alkaline ionized water, I can say with conviction that the very best thing I could give to myself or a loved one is a WATER IONIZER! Give yourself and your family the gift of health this year!

Just this past week I did some more extensive water ionizer comparison testing, and you can see the videos and brief summary of each water ionizer’s performance verses the other below. When it comes to choosing the best water ionizer for you and your family, who best to do the looking and deciding than YOU?

In any case, both of these water ionizers are far superior in performance than many other water ionizers on the market. I say this based on personal tests and evaluations of water ionizers for many years.

Here are some of the general features of each water ionizer:

Tyent Water Ionizer vs. Athena Water Ionizer

Tyent Water Ionizers:

7070T Water Ionizer – The 7070 Turbo is the water ionizer we are testing in the video, below. It is a 7 plate water ionizer.

9090T Water Ionizer – The 9090 Tyent Turbo water ionizer is the next step up from the 7070T water ionizer. The main difference is that it is a 9 plate water ionizer. It will get slightly better readings because of that. You can see an earlier blog post comparing the two main Tyent water ionizers [7070 vs 9090] here: http://alkalinewaterplus.info/blog/2010/12/18/is-the-new-nine-plate-water-ionizer-an-improvement-or-not/ .

9000T Water Ionizer – This is the under-sink version of the 9090T. It will get very similar results as the 9090T.

Jupiter Water Ionizers:

Athena Water Ionizer – The Athena Water Ionizer is the top of the line water ionizer at the Jupiter company. It has continuous cleaning (it cleans continuously, behind the scenes, with no wait time). It also has mesh plates so it allows for more thoroughly ionized water (hence the great ORP ratings.) The Delphi water ionizer is essentially the same machine as the Athena water ionizer, save one filter port, but it is the under-sink version.

Melody/Isis Water Ionizer – The Melody/Isis water ionizer is the next step down from the Athena. The cleaning system is very good, but it’s not continuous. It reverses polarity [cleaning the plates thoroughly] with every use though, and this is done behind the scenes…so there is no wait time for the consumer. It also gets pretty good ORP readings. They aren’t as good as the Athena [because the plates are solid], but the pH and ORP are pretty impressive with the Melody/Isis water ionizer. Here’s an article that will demonstrate the quality that is typical of the Melody/Isis water ionizer: http://alkalinewaterplus.info/blog/2010/11/04/kyk-vs-jupiter-melody-water-ionizers

Venus Water Ionizer – This is the next step down. It is a good machine and will get the range of pH. However, the ORP readings are not as great as the Melody or Athena.

Below, I have included several videos and charts comparing the Athena Water Ionizer versus the Tyent 7070T Water Ionizer. In all videos, I use a moderate flow rate for both water ionizers, between 1.5 and 2 liters per minute. I try to eliminate the flow rate variable and keep both water ionizers at the same flow rate.

Conclusion

The Athena Water Ionizer gets a really great ORP at all pH levels, even the lower level alkaline pHs! The Tyent Water Ionizer doesn’t start to get good ORP until level three. The Tyent water ionizer gets a lower acid pH [2.3 vs. the Athena's 2.6 in St. Louis water]. The lower the acid water, the better the acidic water is for use as a germicidal cleaner [killing germs], although any pH lower than 4 will kill germs.

rH

There is another method to evaluate these test results. We could measure the rH (relative hydrogen). The formula is:

(ORP + 200)/30 + (2 x pH)

The closer the number is to zero the better. The scale goes from 0 to 48. If it is below 28 it is antioxidizing and if it is above 28 it is oxidizing. The Athena water ionizer beats the Tyent water ionizer on this, but the Tyent water ionizer is still exceptional.

The Enagic did not test very well in the taste test. However I realized that I had not checked the pH of any of the water samples. So after this video we tested the pH of all of the ionized water.

Modifications Needed

After this initial testing I checked the pH of all the water we were tasting. Here’s a table of what the pH was after the video for each water source. After seeing the higher pH for the Enagic, I concluded that this might have effected the results of the Enagic water ionizer’s taste test.

In the following videos I attempt to control the pH variable. After redoing the taste testing with all water ionizers at the same pH level (see chart below) the Enagic still did not do as well as the other water ionizers.

Final Conclusion

The results are actually quite amusing. They are not very decisive and even within one taste test on one person, it seems to not have any real pattern. But, I guess that’s what you get when you are doing an experiment based on someone’s opinion.

It looks like the Athena wins out with St Louis tap water as a close second.

You can watch the videos yourself and conclude as you wish.

Note: We are lucky in St Louis to have such good tasting tap water. That may have influenced the results of these tests.

Why Drink Ionized Water?

In all of the years I’ve been into nutrition [which started in 1973 when I became pregnant with my first son, there is not one single more important thing I've learned or tried that has had more impact on my [or my family's] health than a water ionizer. If I thought it would help, I’d go up on the rooftops and shout it at the top of my lungs… “Your cells are begging you for a water ionizer!!!” I know my cells were. I thought I was perfectly healthy back then too [even though I had several allergies and was sick [or had an ear or throat infection] at least once or twice a year. Ionized water does a lot more than filter your water. It micro-clusters it [makes it more easily absorbable into your cells], it alkalizes it [helping your cells get rid of acids, toxins] and in addition to all this turns your water into a powerful anti-oxidant. Read more…

How do you Explain About Ionized Water to Others?

I have constructed a series of simple explanations and videos to help do the work of explaining water ionization to your friends and family members. Read more…

Which Water Ionizer is Best?

That’s a hard question to answer, because it’s kind of like buying a car. But, just like with cars, there are certain companies who have been making water ionizers longer, who are more trustworthy, more reliable and who have scientists and engineers on their design team who truly understand the process and issues connected with making water ionizers. There are also certain whole countries who are better to buy from [i.e., Japan and Korea] because they make water ionizer production fall under strict guidelines. Finally there are certain models which perform better than others. I test and check out the various water ionizer models in every possible way a water ionizer can be tested and checked out [including drinking that ionized water for a week or two at least]. I have discovered that within the water ionizers I sell, there are good, better and best ones. In the category of “Best” I have noticed not only better ORP [antioxidant levels] in the test results, but in my own body better health benefits. As an example, when I switched to the Athena I was able to see the spider veins on my leg disappear. I have summarized the main water ionizer comparison points on a huge chart. Read more…

How Do You Use and Store Ionized Water?

Drinking Ionized Water Instructions: Start off at the lightest ionization level [pH 8.0 or 8.5] and work up slowly. Don’t try to drink high alkaline levels if your body is showing any signs or symptoms of stress doing it. There may be weeks or months before you can comfortably climb up to the level you desire [about pH 9.5]. Read more…

Uses for Ionized Water:

Drinking: As a Natural Antioxidant it has helped people’s cells and blood vessels [possible prevention of cell mutations, heart disease, vein/artery issues and blood pressure issues]. As a body alkalizer it has helped prevent cancer and even reverse allergies, colds, acid reflux, and a large list of issues related to acidic bodies. As a finely filtered and micro-clustered water, it helps hydrate the cells and ward-off dehydration [which is known to lead to many illnesses]. Best to drink at room temperature or cold. Best without mixing in addatives. Read more…

With Medication: Use only filtered [purified] water setting for 20 min. before and after taking medications. Otherwise medications may become too quickly and thoroughly absorbed into the body.

With Vitamins: Used ionized water as usual.

With Meals: Try it. Many people love to drink ionized water with their meals and have no problem doing so. I’ve heard it could possibly make the stomach too alkaline and interfere with digestion, but this hasn’t been the case with my family.

With Coffee or Tea: It makes a great tasting coffee or tea, however you should know that heating ionized water will lose a lot of the pH and ORP benefits.

Mixing into Cool Aid, Crystal Lite, etc.: This is fine to do, however you should know that mixing ionized water with these mixes will lose a lot of the pH and ORP benefits.

Cooking: Ionized water is great to cook with, but you should know that heating up alkaline ionized water loses a lot of its alkalinity and ORP benefits. Therefore try not to

Storing: The best container to use with ionized water is a glass [or hard plastic] smaller [1 quart or less] bottle with a lid that has a rubber seal in it. Fill the bottle to the brim [no air space will help to retain the ORP of the ionized water better]. Once the bottle is opened it will start to lose ORP faster — so, that’s why a smaller bottle is suggested. Read more…

Babies: Babies should drink filtered water [select the "purified" setting rather than an alkaline setting until the baby is about 2 years old...or unless the baby appears to have allergies.

Children: 2-4 year-olds should be given alkaline ionized water at level 1 or 2 [8.0 - 8.5 pH].

Pets: Pets like alkaline water just like people do. Use lower levels for baby animals just as you do children.

Plants: Plants like acidic water. Collect the acid water from the bottom hose in fill bottles to use for watering your plants.

Stain Remover: Use the highest alkaline your ionizer can produce [10.5 pH or higher] to dab on stain or dip stained spot into. It will loosen up the stains of chocolate, gravy, soda, coffee, blood and other hard-to-clean substances. After a minute, rub lightly and watch stain disappear. [works on fresh stains, so do this before you launder your stained clothing].

Grease Cutter/Degreaser: Use the highest alkaline your ionizer can produce [10.5 pH or higher] to clean around stoves or clean grease off dishes & pans and as a pre-wash for fine washables or other laundry.

Germicidal: Acid water at a pH of 4 or below should be sprayed on surfaces where you wish to kill germs [i.e., toilets, sinks, counters, tables]

What Kinds of Conditions have Reversed by Using Ionized Water?

I’ve heard of or seen all kinds of conditions go away completely, such as allergies, cancer, chronic fatugue, high blood pressure, acid reflux, spider veins, diabetes, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, depression, memory issues, intestinal issues, headaches, heart disease, hypertension, gout, food cravings, dieting plateaus. Read more…

What do Doctors and Experts Say about Water Ionizers?

Most doctors in the US have not heard of water ionizers, but you could explain it to them. Most doctors will agree that it is good to drink plenty of water, filter your water, alkalize your body and consume antioxidants in abundance throughout the day. Ionized water will do just this, and your doctor should agree that at least it couldn’t hurt. Here are some quotes from doctors and experts who have actually studied and used water ionizers: Read more…

How do you Take Good Care of Your Water Ionizer?

For the most part your water ionizer will take care of itself, but since water ionizers are expected to last over 20 years, there are some tips to keeping it performing at its peak for that entire time. Read more…

Why are Water Ionizers so Expensive, and Why is it Expected that the Prices will Start to Climb even Higher in 2011?

The answer is basically Platinum. Platinum is the single most expensive mineral on the planet. It’s more expensive than pure gold. The last I checked, Platinum was selling for $1700.00 per ounce! That figure has quadrupled since I bought my first water ionizer 18 years ago. By the way, Platinum is necessary for coating the electrodes in a water ionizer. Without platinum the electrolysis of water would be very slow and poor. Read more…

After over 16 years of drinking alkaline ionized water, I can say with conviction that the very best present I could give to myself or a loved one is a WATER IONIZER! Give yourself and your family the gift of health this year! And…

Have a safe and happy spring!

Is a 9-plate water ionizer better than a 7-plate water ionizer? It has been a long, long time since I’ve completely trusted what water ionizer companies say about themselves. Even when I think their water ionizers are great, I have found that all too many times the “facts” I am given by the companies, themselves, are exagerated. I do my own testing, because only then can I see for myself what really is the truth about any particular water ionizer. I did a series of tests on both the 7070 Tyent Turbo and the 9090 Tyent Turbo Extreme, to determine if the 9090 Turbo Extreme was actually better than the 7070 Turbo. My prediction was that there would be noticable differences and that those differences would be in the area of the ability of the 9-plate water ionizer to get a faster flow rate. However, what I found was…

There is negligible, if any difference between the performance of the two water ionizers.

Here are the videos… [Note: I was unable to test the 7070 Tyent Turbo directly against the 9090 Tyent Turbo Extreme, because I only had one set of filters. So, I tested each against the Athena...to improve the accuracy and reliability of the testing.

Analysis:

Based on the information in the videos, above, I have constructed some charts, below. My analysis is that the Athena and Tyent 7070 are fairly well tied, and so are the Athena and Tyent 9090 Turbo water ionizers. There is negligible difference between the outcome of the Tyent 7070 Turbo water ionizer and the Tyent 9090 Turbo Extreme water ionizer.

In some further testing [I'll have to find the video], I found the following: The Athena water ionizer’s performance fell off at the “Fast” flow rate [when it reached over a 2 liters per min.] The Tyent 9090 fell off too, but not as much. So, I suppose that if you were looking for a faster flowing water ionizer, it would be better to have the Tyent 9090. Here are the results:

So, what can be learned?

When it comes to water ionizers… Bigger is not necessarily better & more is not necessarily better either.

However, it is clear that all three of the water ionizers tested were of exceptional ability to ionize!

After over 16 years of drinking alkaline ionized water, I can say with conviction that the very best present I could give to myself or a loved one is a WATER IONIZER! Give yourself the gift of health this year! And…

I’m summarizing those results and also expanding my comparisons of these water ionizers, so you can see and compare every aspect of these water ionizers all in one spot.

One of the number one things I hear from customers is how confused they are when it comes to figuring out which water ionizer to buy.

This article will hopefully shed some light of truth on the subject of water ionizer comparisons. While it is just one more series of water ionizer comparison testing, it is pretty comprehensive in that every level of each water ionizer was tested…not just the strongest level.

I have constructed a master chart to help demonstrate the ORP results for each water ionizer in ordered pH intervals. I was hoping that looking at it this way, a pattern might emerge.

Why is ORP so important?

ORP is the antioxidant value of the ionized water. This is where your ionized water provides you with large quantities of free-radical scavengers to bond with free radicals in your blood and cells and theoretically prevent all kinds of damage to your cells. Note: It is only in the first few hours after pouring ionized water that you get these highest levels of ORP. I have literally seen spider veins disappear from my legs when I drank ionized water with the highest levels of ORP. Since I can only comfortably drink up to about a 10.5 pH, I, personally, want the level of pH I drink at to have the most ORP it can.

Note: Here, in St. Louis, my source water’s pH is high to begin with. Based on other water ionizer comparison tests done in many areas around the country, I predict that the ORP where you live will probably reach similar results to St. Louis, and that your pH will not be as high as it is here, in St. Louis.

.

I can honestly say that these water ionizers are all very close! If there is an overall winner to see…

I’d say it might be the Jupiter Melody!

I am surprised at the strength of the Jupiter Melody water ionizer! The Melody is a 5-plate water ionizer competing head on amongst 7-plate &/or more expensive water ionizers and it might even have emerged as an overall winner!

Note: All of the water ionizer comparisons, videos and test results [for the water ionizer "Face-Off" comparisons] are cited at the bottom of this post for easy reference.

The reason I’m surprised by the strong results for the Jupiter Melody water ionizer testing is that usually the Jupiter Athena’s results are better than the Melody. Also usually the Tyent Turbo and the Enagic are better than the Jupiter Melody as well. But in this series of tests, it’s not clear who the winner is, and it sure is clear that the Melody looks pretty darn good. It’s right up there, close to equal in some levels – better in others. And that’s against the traditional winners [the Athena, Tyent and Enagic]. You can’t take one set of tests as proof, but it does fit in somewhere as part of an overall picture.

These are clearly all good water ionizers, and that is probably all that these results prove.

There are other things to consider when purchasing a water ionizer, and sometimes [just like in buying a car] those extra features may be what makes or breaks the deal for you. For the features I think are the most important, I’ve listed the ionizers in order of best to worst [left to right], below. I’ve also put the features in order of how important I think they are. Keep in mind, just like in buying a car, the opinions of “best” and “most important” will naturally vary.

Water Ionizer the best water ionizer there is?

No. There are many comparible water ionizers [such as the Jupiter Melody as you can see in the demonstrations in this article] and some that are better than the Enagic Kangen water [such as the Athena and Tyent Turbo as you can see in previous demonstrations], so No, Enagic is not the best there is. It’s a good, even great, water ionizer though, so I have no intention to down-grade it. However, I have tested and used these, and many other water ionizers, for years, and that’s why I simply know. I know the truth of the ionizers compared, and so when I hear stories from MLMers that the Enagic water ionizer is like no other or better than all others I will know there is a lie somewhere. I always ask, “in what way is the Enagic claimed to be better?” The answers I have heard are amazing to me, because they are based on hear-say only. One MLMer tells their downline, and they tell their downline, and they tell everyone they see. When asked for specifics, I’ll hear things like “better ORP” or “the ORP lasts longer”. I’ve actually tested and used these water ionizers, and though I would consider the Jupiter Melody a little bit less quality ORP than the Enagic, they are very close as you can see compared here.

Which water ioizer will hold its ORP the longest?

That is what I’m testing in today’s post. I have done a series of water ionizer comparisons which you can see below [the videos, charts and summaries for each set of tests]. I tested the ionized water immediately after pouring it as “Enagic-Melody-Comparison-1″. Then after an hour and 13 min. I tested all levels again [Enagic-Melody-Comparison-2]. Then continued to test at intervals and you can see for yourself that the ORP dropped at the same rate [I mean identical] for each water ionizer.

Another important piece of information you can learn from this post is …

How long will ionized water stay ionized?

This is a great question, and the answer is that the pH will last for a pretty long time [if sealed in a good container], but even sealed in the best container, the ORP will drop significantly after an hour at levels 1 and 2. It will drop significantly after 3 hours for levels 3 and 4. Therefore, my advice to anyone is to try to drink your ionized water fresh. The idea of storing it for days is fine if that’s all you can do, but I really, strongly advise you to just bite the bullet and buy your own water ionizer.

How else do the Melody and Enagic compare? This is important to LOOK at, because you can literally buy 3 Melodies for the price of one Enagic! Melody water ionizers also have a lifetime warranty on parts [vs. Enagic's 5-year warranty], so take a look at the other comparisons. You can see that in many ways, the Melody is a better water ionizer than the Enagic, and in some ways the Enagic is better. But they are both great, reputable water ionizers from very good and trustworthy manufacturers.

The KYK water ionizer is programmable, so I set it to the highest possible settings. Even so, the KYK water ionizer still did not compare as well as the Jupiter Melody water ionizer, but they were close.

You can see the videos, followed by the charts and commentaries here. The first two videos are when I compared the two water ionizers prior to customizing the programmable settings. The results were poor for the KYK, so I reprogrammed it to be set at the highest possible settings for each level. Then the last two videos show the reprogramming followed by the 2nd set of tests.

Here are my comments about today’s water ionizer comparisons:

I’m ignoring the first set of results, because the programming of the KYK Generation II was not at the highest settings. But with the 2nd set of tests, the Melody still did better.

The Melody’s results for levels 1 and 2 were far better than the KYK and they had almost perfect ionized water results.

At Level 3 the KYK did a little better than the Melody at level 3, because the pH was at a more drinkable level. However, if you compared the Level 3 of the KYK with Level 2 of the Melody, you can see the ORP is almost identical with the Melody’s pH even more drinkable.

At Level 4 the difference of 1/10th of a pH point is neglegible, and both water ionizes’ high alkaline results were plenty high enough to emulsify oils.

The Melody had a slightly better low acidic pH, but both water ionizers’ low acid pH results were plenty low enough to kill germs.

This was part 5 of a series of water ionizer comparison tests that I have called Water Ionizer Face-Off. So far I have compared…

#1 The Tyent vs. the Enagic …got a near tie between the two water ionizers but Tyent won. http://alkalinewaterplus.info/blog/2010/10/22/water-ionizer-competition-1/

#2 The Melody vs the Enagic …got a near tie [Enagic only a little better] between the two water ionizers. http://alkalinewaterplus.info/blog/2010/10/26/enagic-kangen-vs-jupiter-melody-water-ionizers/

#3 The Tyent Turbo vs the Chanson Miracle …Tyent was the winner. http://alkalinewaterplus.info/blog/2010/10/29/tyent-turbo-vs-chanson-miracle-water-ionizers/

#4 The Enagic Kangen Water Ionizer [SD501] vs the Jupiter Athena …got a near tie [Athena a bit better]… http://alkalinewaterplus.info/blog/2010/11/02/enagic-kangen-water-vs-jupiter-athena-water-ionizers/

#5 KYK Generation II vs. Jupiter Melody Water Ionizers …The Jupiter Melody was the winner [today's post]

For now this is the last round of Alkaline Water Plus’s Water Ionizer Face-Off Competitions. I have gathered a lot of good information so far and that will have to do until I continue these Face-Off Competitions at some point after the holidays [or sooner if there seems to be a real need].

My overall rankings for the water ionizers compared based on the results in this 5-part Water Ionizer Face-Off Competition are:

Category #1: Best Water Ionizers [Jupiter Athena Water Ionizer, Tyent Turbo Water Ionizer, and Enagic LeveLuk SD 501 Kangen Water Ionizer]

Category #2: Better Water Ionizer [Jupiter Melody Water Ionizer]

Category #3: Good Water Ionizers [Chanson Miracle Water Ionizer and KYK Generation II Water Ionizer]

You can’t always look at numbers and figure it out which one is the best ORP per unit of pH easily. Therefore it’s helpful to have a formula to help you do that. RH is simply a measure of negatively charged Hydrogen per unit of pH in your water. The smaller the number [rH closer to zero], the better [healthier & more anti-oxidizing] the water is. On a scale from 0 to 42, above 28 is oxidizing (higher potential to damage the closer it gets to 40) and below 28 is reducing (anti-oxidizing)…the lower [closer to zero] the better. RH is the best measure of the healthiness of that ionized water.

The formula for rH is: rH = (ORP + 200) / 30 + 2 * pH
